Brattleboro Memorial Hospital announced that Kelly A. McCue has received her Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) from Bouve College of Health Sciences, Northeastern University, Boston, MA.
McCue graduated summa cum laude with a 4.0 GPA. She obtained her Master of Science (MSN) in Nursing, Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) from Loyola University Chicago in 2011, a Bachelor of Science Nursing (BSN) from Southern Connecticut State University in 1990 and a diploma in nursing from Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing in Connecticut 1982. McCue also has certifications in both Oncology and Hospice & Palliative Care.
Since joining the BMH Oncology Department staff in 2009, McCue has worked in collaboration with Joseph Rosen, MD, Medical Director to build the hospital’s Comprehensive Breast Care program, first as a nurse navigator and now as program administrator. In this role, she coordinates diagnostic testing, treatment, post treatment follow-up, and support services for women with breast disease, or who have questions regarding their breast health. She also supports women in their physical, psychosocial, and spiritual recovery in an individualized, multi-disciplinary program, and serves as a resource for patients and their families to answer questions, assess specialists, and coordinate additional services.
A resident of Dummerston, McCue is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International, the honor society of nursing and the Oncology Nurse’s Society. The abstract of her doctoral research work, An Exploration of Why Oncology Patients Do Not Adhere to Oral Chemotherapy Regimes, has been selected for presentation at the 2015 National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) annual conference.
