Brattleboro Memorial Hospital held its First Annual Vermont Handmade Decorated Wreath Challenge today. While hospital employees will be vying for the grand prize of a catered luncheon, other winners will include local farmers and underserved families in the community.
Jamie Baribeau, BMH Director of Nutrition Service, purchased undecorated wreaths from Harlow’s Farm and Westminster Organics, and had them delivered to the hospital by the Windham Farm Fresh Network. The wreaths were then distributed to hospital departments to decorate with handmade bows, foraged pine cones, dried fruits and other decorative items that keep with the traditional Vermont theme.
The wreaths were displayed in the Richards Building main lobby and were judged by some local community members. The winning wreaths were First Place; Purchasing Department, Second Place; Development/Community Relations and Third Place goes to Cardiac Rehab. Richard Davis with the BMH Community Health team will be distributing the wreaths to various families in the community.
“This is a win-win for local farm producers and families or individuals in the community who are less fortunate. We hope these wreaths help brighten their holiday,” says Baribeau.
