The Vermont State Colleges (VSC) Board of Trustees announced Thursday that the Community College of Vermont’s Winooski academic center would be renamed the Tim Donovan Academic Center to honor VSC Chancellor Tim Donovan.
Donovan has served the VSC with distinction for 38 years and in varying positions. He will retire at the end of this month.
Donovan’s career included eight years as president of the Community College of Vermont and five years as the seventh chancellor of the Vermont State Colleges.
“Through his extensive service, Tim’s leadership has been felt throughout Vermont and across New England,” said CCV President Joyce Judy. “Tim dedicated his professional life to the betterment of CCV and the VSC, bringing outstanding strategic thinking and organizational leadership to the college system.”
VSC Board of Trustees Chairwoman Martha O’Connor said Donovan is more than deserving of this honor.
“His hard work and passion for higher education in Vermont will surely be missed,” she said. “By dedicating CCV’s Winooski center in his name, his legacy will be remembered for years to come.”
CCV is Vermont’s second largest college, serving over 7,000 students each semester. With 12 locations and extensive online learning options, students don’t have to travel far from their communities to access degree and certificate programs, workforce, secondary and continuing education opportunities, and academic and veterans support services.
Vermont's state colleges include Castleton State College, Community College of Vermont, Johnson State College, Lyndon State College and Vermont Technical College. The Office of the Chancellor is in Montpelier.
