The non-profit, FOCUS ON FILM, announces its hire of a new executive director for the Green Mountain Film Festival. The non-profit hired Rachelle Murphy, a Berlin resident and recent masters of art graduate from Savannah College of Art and Design. Murphy coordinated the 2014 festival in Montpelier.
Murphy comes with television and film production credentials, two film degrees, ties to Los Angeles and New York City, and close relationships with prestigious filmmakers and other film festivals around the country.
This hire is the beginning of changes coming to the festival. Murphy has ushered in changes to the submission process by allowing the festival to accept submissions through filmfreeway.com. As of this press release 2,643 films have been submitted from 92 countries. In addition, Murphy has been able to entice both local filmmakers and artists, as well as heavy hitters in the film industry to participate in the upcoming festival. She has also become more active in the community. The Green Mountain Film Festival was excited to participate in the Arts Festival that happened in Montpelier on October 18th, 2014.
The Green Mountain Film Festival is presented by Focus on Film, a 30-year-old central Vermont organization whose purpose is to provide public film showings of cultural, social, and historic interest, to sponsor discussions of such films, and to provide an opportunity for independent filmmakers to exhibit their works. Showings may be in collaboration with schools, other educational institutions, and other film and theater societies.
