Rep Scheuermann to attend “No Labels” national ideas meeting In Washington, DC

On September 16-17, Rep. Heidi Scheuermann (Stowe) is joining leaders from across the nation – including several dozen members of Congress and many state and local leaders – in Washington, D.C. for No Labels’ National Ideas Meeting.

“I am honored to have been invited to be part of the “No Labels” National Ideas Meeting,” said Representative Scheuermann. “In bringing together leaders from across the political spectrum from around the country – and in Congress – No Labels is working to bring the politics of problem-solving back to Washington. I, for one, applaud that effort, and am pleased to be a part of it.”

The National Ideas Meeting will bring Democrats, Republicans, and independents together to kick off a yearlong process to build a new National Strategic Agenda to tackle our toughest national challenges. The purpose of this exercise is to develop a comprehensive policy document – with input from people across America – by October 2015, just as the presidential election is heating up. The ultimate goal is for the next president and Congress to use the agenda to guide bipartisan action on the signature issues in the agenda: jobs, the budget, Social Security and Medicare and energy.

This meeting will launch the effort to forge nationwide agreement on this National Strategic Agenda, by formulating a vision for where America needs to go and how we get there. Though this effort begins in D.C., there will be subsequent meetings in New Hampshire, Iowa and elsewhere.

No Labels is a national movement of Democrats, Republicans and independents dedicated to a new politics of problem solving. More than 80 members of Congress, including Vermont Congressman Peter Welch, have teamed up with No Labels. In addition, No Labels maintains a network of more than half-a-million citizen supporters and state and local leaders.
