National leader in health care analytics joins Dartmouth-Hitchcock

Robert A. Greene, MD, MHCDS, FACP, a national leader in health care analytics and new payment models, has joined the Dartmouth-Hitchcock team as executive vice president and chief population management officer.

Dr. Greene will have accountability and oversight for one of the three pillars of Dartmouth-Hitchcock’s sustainable health system: improving population health.

“This is a critical position as we work to create a sustainable health system that will improve the lives of the people and communities we serve, for generations to come,” noted Dartmouth-Hitchcock CEO and President Dr. James N. Weinstein. “Rob will be a terrific leader for our team, contributing unique skills and experience that are much needed as we transition away from traditional models of care delivery and payment.”

Working in close collaboration with clinical and administrative leadership, he will oversee operations for population health management and Accountable Care Organization work across the Dartmouth-Hitchcock system, as well as leading the development and implementation strategies to succeed under population-based reimbursement models. He will also play a key role in employee wellness and population health initiatives, working with programs at D-H and with partners in the community.

“I am excited to join a great team and a great institution at this critical time for health care in New Hampshire, New England, and the United States,” said Greene. “Dartmouth-Hitchcock is well-positioned to lead the changes that are coming in health care, and I look forward to working with Dr. Weinstein and the people of D-H.”

Greene comes to Dartmouth-Hitchcock from UnitedHealthcare (UHC) in Minnetonka, MN, where he served as Senior Vice President for Innovation and Applied Analytics. In that role, he led the Clinical Analytics Division of UHC, where he was responsible for coordinating clinical performance measurement across the company. He also was in charge of research and development for UHC’s national physician public reporting program, the UnitedHealthcare Premium® designation program; analytic support for patient centered medical home pilots; clinical performance measurement for performance based contracting and value based incentives; and multiple provider-facing quality improvement programs.

Additionally, he was the executive sponsor for design of the UHC Patient Centered Care Model (PCCM), a model of care that integrates the medical, behavioral, and social needs of patients especially those with multiple complex chronic diseases; and alignment of UHC clinical models under the PCCM framework.

Dr. Greene is a 1978 graduate of Harvard College and a 1986 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY. In June, he graduated from the Master in Health Care Delivery Science Program at Dartmouth and the Tuck School of Business.

Dartmouth-Hitchcock is an academic health system, serving patients across New England. A national leader in patient-centered health care, D-H is on a path to create a sustainable health system for the region and to become a model for the nation. Founded in 1893, the system includes New Hampshire’s only Level 1 trauma center and its only air ambulance service, as well as the Norris Cotton Cancer Center, one of only 41 National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the nation, and the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock, the state’s only Children’s Hospital Association-approved, comprehensive, full-service children's hospital. Dartmouth-Hitchcock provides access to nearly 1,500 primary care doctors and specialists in almost every area of medicine, as well as world-class research with the Audrey and Theodor Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth.
