Dartmouth-Hitchcock appoints David Jevsevar, MD, MBA as vice chair of orthopaedics

Orthopaedic surgeon David S. Jevsevar MD, MBA, Medical Director of Orthopaedic Clinical Program Development for Intermountain Healthcare in Salt Lake City, UT, has been named Vice Chair of Orthopaedics and Director of the soon-to-be developed Arthritis Center at Dartmouth-Hitchcock.

In his roles at Dartmouth-Hitchcock, Dr. Jevsevar will manage the day-to-day clinical affairs of the orthopaedics department as vice chair. As Director of the Arthritis Center, he will work towards building a multi-specialty musculoskeletal team of clinicians, focused on improving outcomes of patients with arthritis, using GreenCare principles: a team-based care model, with emphasis on appropriate treatments supported by science and leveraging information technology to improve patient experience, informed choice and outcomes. He will be charged with replicating GreenCare at sites beyond DHMC.

Dr. Jevsevar is also the Director of Surgical Services for Intermountain’s Southwest Region in St. George, UT. His deep experience includes service as the Chief of Orthopaedics and Chief of Surgery for the United States Air Force, based at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada. He was a founding board member of the Coral Desert Surgery Center in St. George, and has also served as the Medical Director for Neuromusculoskeletal Service at Dixie Regional Medical Center.

He is a 1984 graduate of St. Vincent College in Latrobe, PA. He earned his medical degree in 1988 from Georgetown University, and an MBA from Auburn University in 2004. He trained in residencies in orthopaedic surgery at Tufts University and Allegeny General Hospital; he also earned a research fellowship in the Neuman Laboratory at MIT and at the Biomotion Laboratory at Massachusetts General Hospital. His clinical practice, in St. George, focuses on knee and hip arthroplasty.

Dr. Jevsevar presently serves as the chair of the Evidence Based Quality and Value Committee of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS.) He also serves as Chair of the Academy’s Clinical Practice Guideline Workgroup on the Treatment of Knee Osteoarthritis, and a member of the Performance Improvement/CME Committee. Dr. Jevsevar is also part of the AAOS Orthopaedic Quality Institute.. He is a member of AAOS, the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, the Western Orthopaedic Association, and Orthopaedics Overseas.

He will start at Dartmouth-Hitchcock in October. Dr. Jevsevar will also hold a teaching and research appointment in the Department of Orthopaedics at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College.
