Dr. James joins Northwestern Walk-In Clinic

Northwestern Medical Center is pleased to announce that Dr. Richard James has joined NMC as the Medical Director of Northwestern Occupational Health and the Northwestern Walk-In Clinic.

Dr. James sees patients several days per week at the Northwestern Walk-In Clinic in Georgia. Beginning this May, he will also see patients one day per week at Northwestern Orthopaedics in Doctor’s Office Commons on the NMC campus.

“We’re very excited to have Dr. James join our staff. His background and expertise complement our team at the Walk-In Clinic. His emphasis on sports injuries and his specialty in sports medicine are also great additions to our orthopaedic service line,” says NMC Assistant Vice President of Physician Services Maria Mateus.

Dr. James most recently worked for Vhi Swiftcare, a busy urgent care business in Dublin, Ireland. Dr. James has also worked for several healthcare facilities around Vermont including Mansfield Orthopaedics, North Country Hospital and Stowe Family Practice. He is board certified in both Family Medicine and Sports Medicine.

Dr. James earned his MD from the State University of New York at Stony Brook Medical School and holds a BA in Psychology from Dartmouth College. He said he enjoys travel and the outdoors as well as sports and sports medicine, having served as the team physician for soccer, hockey and boxing youth clubs in the Stowe area.
