Tim Halvorson Award
The Tim Halvorson award, which began in 2009, recognizes an individual for "outstanding contribution to the economic vitality of Burlington." This year's award will be presented to David Finney, outgoing President of Champlain College. Finney announced his retirement from Champlain last April and will conclude his services this coming June. Click here to read more on Finney's legacy at Champlain College.
“Under David Finney’s leadership, Champlain College has evolved into a shining example of what a forward thinking and value-based higher education product can and should be,” BBA Board Chair and President of Paw Print and Mail Tom Brassard said. “His vision and guidance has positively affected the intellectual, aesthetic, cultural, and economic vitality of our community and beyond. The Burlington Business Association is grateful for his tenure, friendship, and partnership.”
Burlington Business Award
The Burlington Business Award is in "recognition of superb business practices, contributions to the community, promotion of a positive image for Burlington, and business success". This year, the BBA is awarding the Burlington Business Award to Burton Snowboards. “Burton has held an important presence in Burlington’s south end for a long time,” BBA Executive Director Kelly Devine said. “We’re thrilled to acknowledge Burton’s significant contributions to Burlington’s thriving business community.”
“Burton has a long history in Burlington. They relocated here and have grown their business here.” BBA Executive Director Kelly Devine said. “We are fortunate to have this successful, international company as ambassadors for Burlington, VT.”
Architectural Excellence Award, in honor of Hertzel Pasackow
The award recognizes "a significant contribution to the physical or architectural quality of Burlington." Established in 1986, the award is given in memory of Hertzel Pasackow, owner of the Mayfair on upper Church Street, and founding member of both the BBA and the Church Street Marketplace Commission. This year, BBA members voted to honor Hotel Vermont with the Archirtecture Award. The entire interior design of the hotel was designed by Truexcullins Architecture + Interior Design.
