Fletcher Allen Health Care Cardiologist and University of Vermont Professor of Medicine Philip Ades, M.D., has received the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) Presidential Recognition Award. Dr. Ades was honored for his national leadership in establishing the effectiveness of cardiac rehab and advocating for greater access to it for patients of chronic heart failure.
He serves as director of Cardiac Rehabilitation and has been performing clinical research in that field since 1984. His current areas of interest are research in the treatment of obesity in cardiac rehabilitation and the treatment of older patients in cardiac rehab. In addition, he is a past president of AACVPR and a past editor of the official AACVPR journal, the Journal of Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation and Prevention (JCRP).
