Bob Luce returning to chair the Brain Injury Association of Vermont

Attorney Robert B. Luce of the northern New England law firm Downs Rachlin Martin PLLC has been elected chair of the board of the Brain Injury Association of Vermont, an organization helping to create a better future for Vermonters with brain injury and their families through prevention, education, advocacy and support.

“It has been my honor to be an advocate for brain injury prevention and services in both my private law practice and in my service since 1999 on the board of directors,” Luce said. “I look forward to working with Trevor Squirrell, our exceptionally capable executive director, and the amazing staff at the BIA to lead this organization forward. Its critical mission is to bring Vermont to a place where brain injuries are prevented and those who already have a brain injury can get all the help they need.“

At DRM Luce is a director and owner and chairman of the firm’s Litigation Group. He has extensive experience managing and trying complex commercial litigation matters and for more than two decades has successfully represented brain and spinal cord injury victims and victims of other serious injuries. He is often called a “neurolawyer” because his practice requires that he be knowledgeable about the biomechanics of neurotrauma, neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, neurochemistry, neuropsychology, neurorehabilitation and the special needs that accompany brain injury and spinal cord injury.

Luce maintains a traumatic brain injury blog that provides links to reliable information and monitors peer reviewed medical literature as well as public policy developments and translates this information into understandable summaries. He served as chair of the BIA for several years after the organization was formed, and has served on the board since 1999. He replaces Marsha Bancroft, an advocate at Disability Rights Vermont.
