Rachlin named Vermont chair of American College of Trial Lawyers

The American College of Trial Lawyers has appointed Robert D. Rachlin of Burlington, senior director and general counsel of Downs Rachlin Martin PLLC, chair of its Vermont chapter. His current term is from Oct. 28, 2013 to Sept. 17, 2014, the terms defined by the annual fall meetings of the college.

Rachlin was inducted as a fellow of the college in 1989. He has been in active practice since the end of 1959 and is a co-founder of DRM, which is the largest law firm in Vermont.

The American College of Trial Lawyers was founded in 1950 to maintain and improve the standards of trial practice, the ethics of the profession, and the administration of justice. Fellowship is by invitation only and is awarded following a rigorous investigation of the candidate. Fellowship is limited to one percent of the bar, not including sitting judges.

The Vermont chapter of the college consist currently of 27 fellows, including three who are currently serving as judges.
