Bob-White Systems names Jana Koschak to run its newly-opened dairy & food testing lab. Located in South Royalton, VT, the dairy & food testing lab is the only private lab of its kind in the state where producers and processors can have the quality and composition of their milk analyzed. Koschak, a Greenhorns researcher and former cheesemaker, is working to obtain state certification for the lab to provide customers with accredited results. Photos of Koschak are attached.
Koschak will oversee the following tests:
• Bacteriological testing (including Standard Plate Count and Staphylococcus)
• Coliform testing
• Somatic cell count
• Milk component analysis
• Finished product testing
• Antibiotic residue testing
Prior to Bob-White Systems opening its testing lab, dairy producers hand-delivered milk samples to the state lab in Burlington or sent them to a lab in New York state. Koschak and her colleagues at Bob-White Systems team offer a convenient, centrally-located lab for the region’s dairy producers and cheesemakers.
Koschak will launch a blog series later this month that will outline the tests Bob-White Systems offers and their importance to producers and consumers alike.
