Smugglers’ Notch Resort president Mulcahy announces plans to retire

Smugglers’ Notch Resort president Robert F. Mulcahy has announced his plans to retire at the end of October. Over the course of a 44-year affiliation with the resort, Mulcahy has played a key role in developing Smugglers’ into an award-winning and internationally recognized family vacation destination. During his tenure as president at Smugglers’, the resort experienced significant expansion, including development of a vibrant village center; mountain improvements in snowmaking, grooming, and trail expansion; and the addition of many of the resort’s most popular recreation facilities and amenities. Mulcahy led the marketing effort in 1976 that established summer programming at Smugglers’ and paved the way for the resort’s current reputation as a preeminent year-round vacation destination for families. He also contributed to the successful transition of the resort’s timeshare real estate assets to Wyndham Vacation Ownership in 2011.

Mulcahy has represented Smugglers’ and held leadership positions within the Vermont Ski Areas Association and the National Ski Areas Association. In 2003, he won NSAA’s Sherman Adams Award in recognition of his many positive contributions to the ski industry. He has also served on the board of the Vermont Chamber of Commerce and the United Way of Lamoille County.
