Delta Dental Plan of Vermont announces the election of two new board trustees, Scott M. Bowen, DMD, MD, MPH, and Theron J. Main, DDS.
Dr. Bowen is a board certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon who has practiced in Vermont since 2003; in 2009, establishing Maple View Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, P.C., in Middlebury. His training includes a Bachelors of Science Degree from Wheaton College, Wheaton, Illinois, a Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, a Masters of Public Health from the Harvard School of Public Health and a Doctorate of Medicine from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill, where he completed a six-year residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery and a one year internship in general surgery.
Dr. Bowen is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a Fellow of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He provides leadership to the Vermont Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, currently as its president elect, and is a former officer of the Champlain Valley Dental Society. He is a member of the credentialing committee at Porter Hospital in Middlebury.
Dr. Main is a Pediatric Dentist practicing at Timberlane Dental Group in South Burlington. Dr. Main’s training includes a Bachelor of Science Degree from Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York, a Doctor of Dental Surgery from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine and an Advanced Education Program in Pediatric Dentistry from the Women’s and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo.
Dr. Main is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and belongs to national and state dental societies. His civic involvement includes providing oral exams and counseling children at the Fletcher Allen Hemophiliac Clinic. He has volunteered his dental expertise in the form of oral examinations, oral health education, and dental services to Special Olympics athletes, autistic youth and adults, grade school children in a community sealant program, and patients at a hygiene clinic at Vermont Technical College.
