Dan Petterson, director of financial examinations for the Vermont Department of Financial Regulation’s Captive Insurance Division, has earned the distinction of Senior Professional in Insurance Regulation from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners based in Kansas City, Mo.
The program, which takes about two years to complete, was designed to maintain structured, rigorous, and elite credentialing requirements through which regulators gain expertise, skills, and capabilities in the areas of solvency regulation, market conduct regulation, product regulation, and consumer protection in order to regulate the insurance marketplace effectively.
Dan, who lives in Colchester, is the first Vermonter to earn this distinction and one of only six in the nation. He is also a certified public accountant and a certified fraud examiner.
