Vintage Inspired Lifestyle Marketplace on Flynn Avenue in Burlington is pleased to announce an exhibition of mixed media work from Vermont artist Haley Bishop, December 7th through December 31st. There will be an opening reception Friday, December 7th from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Vintage Inspired, A vibrant new marketplace for antique dealers, artists and craftspeople, is located at 180 Flynn Avenue, and is open Monday through Saturday from 10am to 5pm and Sunday from 12pm to 4pm.
The places in Haley Bishop’s life are extremely important, and form the basis for much of her work. Using pen-and-ink illustration, watercolor, acrylic, and computer scans, Haley transforms images of familiar spaces into colorful, layered mixed-media pieces. Haley considers herself an abstract colorist, though many of her pieces contain objects of familiarity & comfort. In her work, Bishop often gives life to her childhood memories, recalling places that were important to her and examining them through the lens of empty space, familiar objects and shapes, and detailed house interiors.
Originally from California, Haley Bishop has spent most of her life in Vermont. She attended Burlington Tech Center, studying Design & Illustration, before receiving her BFA from the School Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and Tufts University. Haley loves working with children, and when not creating art, works as a nanny. She often involves them in her art, and feels that her own work has a very childlike quality.
