Ron Hance named 2012 Business Person of the Year

The Rutland Region Chamber of Commerce held their 114th Annual Meeting on October 24th. Ron Hance, President/CEO, Heritage Family Credit Union was named at the 2012 Business Person of the Year. In his remarks RRCC EVP/CEO Tom Donahue noted Mr. Hance started his career with Heritage Family Credit Union (formerly GE Credit Union) in 1967 serving on the Board of Directors and various committees, in 1978 he became President/CEO when the company had $2M in assets and three employees working out of a small rented office space. Under Hance’s leadership the credit union has grown to nine branches with 130 employees and $331M in assets and is currently building a $10m, 27,000 sq ft Operations Center on Allen St. Hance was joined by his wife Marsha on the stage along with Tom Donahue, RRCC EVP/CEO; Mayor Chris Louras; Congressman Peter Welch and RRCC President Marleen Cenate. In his remarks Hance said he was overwhelmed with the honor and noted that he did not do it alone. Hance referenced Hillary Rodham Clinton's book, "It Takes A Village." "It really does take a village and thank you all for being part of my village."

Other highlights of the meeting attended by 200 people included an overview of the Chamber’s accomplishments over the past year and goals looking forward. The meeting featured U.S. Congressman Peter Welch as the Keynote Speaker.
