National Bank of Middlebury has recently welcomed Eleanor “Misse” Smith as its New Horizons Club Program Coordinator.
Having made her home in Vermont nearly 30 years ago and with a deep commitment to the local community, Misse Smith has been involved as a board or committee member with many organizations including, among others, United Way, Helen Porter Health Care & Rehabilitation Center and is currently serving as President and board member of Mary Johnson Children’s Center. In 2006, having practiced law for 24 years in Middlebury, Ms. Smith was elected Addison County Probate Judge, where she will continue to preside on a part-time basis. “My new role as the New Horizons Club Program Coordinator complements my other job” indicated Misse, “Both positions enable me to continue to serve local Vermont communities.”
In addition to the multitude of existing New Horizons Club activities, in her new role, Misse looks forward to expanding the NHC to include members who may be interested in additional activities like biking, hiking, walking, skiing, swimming and more! She’s also looking into organizing more lectures and educational outings for the Club’s membership that could include attending readings with authors from the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference and other opportunities. “We are excited to have Misse Smith on-board,” according to Grover K. Usilton, Vice President of NBM, “Being such an active member in the local community, she is able to hit the ground running and to help us to continue to develop programs and activities and added value for our customers who are members of the New Horizons Club.”
