Ecologist Kristian Omland has joined the Environmental Services division of Stantec. Based in the firm's South Burlington, Vermont, office, Omland's work focuses on statistical data modeling for ecological and
biological research efforts.
Omland has been providing biological and wildlife research, data modeling, and consulting for more than a decade. His analyses have supported research on such programs as vaccine development for bioterrorism preparedness, surveys evaluating energy efficiency programs, and rare species monitoring and population viability analysis, including bird and bat migration studies related to offshore wind farm viability.
Omland's background includes work with the Vermont Cooperative Fish & Wildlife Research Unit at the University of Vermont, where he modeled populations of brown and brook trout. He holds multiple degrees, including a PhD in ecology from the University of Connecticut and a master's in biology from the University of Vermont, and is a frequent author and speaker. He and his family live in Jericho.
