Vermont Tech welcomes Jessica Van Deren as Director of Admissions

Jessica Van Deren, a recruitment and enrollment specialist with extensive marketing experience, joins Vermont Tech today in the key position of Director of Admissions. Van Deren will lead all admissions and recruitment efforts, including planning, developing, and leading an aggressive recruitment strategy that will build upon Vermont Tech’s success at attracting excellent students.

She brings a wealth of admissions experience to the institution, having worked in Vermont and beyond, with both traditional age and older students. The college continues to expand and grow on many levels. Jessica’s dynamic vision and experience will be a great asset at this stage in the development of the college,” said Jay Paterson, Executive Director of Strategic College Operations.

Vermont Tech is the state’s only technical college, yet its growing reputation as a top school in the field has brought students to campus from more than a dozen states and eight countries. Van Deren will oversee admissions effort for the college’s 13 baccalaureate degree programs, 20 associate degree programs, and one certificate program.

A native of Vermont, Van Deren most recently served as Director of Admissions for Union Institute and University. Previously, she spent nine years in progressively responsible positions at Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, Connecticut, where she served as Director of Admissions from 2005 to 2010. Earlier in her career, she was employed by Johnson State College and Trinity College of Vermont. Van Deren earned her bachelor of arts from Trinity College of Vermont and her master’s in leadership and business ethics from Duquesne University.

“I am very enthusiastic about joining the admissions team, and I look forward to working with the entire College community as we promote Vermont Tech’s innovative programs,” said Van Deren, a resident of Williamstown, Vermont.

Vermont Technical College is the only public institution of higher learning in Vermont whose mission is applied education.
