The Visiting Nurse Association of Chittenden and Grand Isle Counties (VNA) proudly announces Dr. Jaina Clough as the new Hospice Medical Director. Dr. Clough comes highly recommended to the VNA with years of experience from Fletcher Allen Health Care where she served as a primary care physician. The Hospice Medical Director works to ensure that regulations for hospice eligibility are in concert with a patient’s primary care physician. The VNA views this position as critical in providing the best possible care to patients and their families.
Dr. Clough will oversee the Hospice Plan of Care and review new admissions, discharges, and revisions to the care plan. Dr. Clough is also a member of the End-of-Life Care Advisory Committee and will offer ongoing education to the VNA hospice team in addition to visiting patients at Vermont Respite House.
A graduate of the University of Vermont College of Medicine, Dr. Clough shared, “I am honored to be joining the VNA as the hospice medical director. I have always been impressed with the professionalism and compassion of the VNA nurses, both in home care and in hospice. The VNA empowers patients and families to embrace new goals and accept the fundamental transitions in life. My personal experience caring for family at the end of life drew me toward hospice. It will be a privilege to work with the VNA hospice team to provide comfort and high quality care at the close of life.”
The VNA is a 106-year-old non-profit home health agency caring for people of all ages – from critically ill children to vulnerable families to adults who need rehabilitation, care for chronic illness, adult day services or end-of-life care. The VNA provides medically-necessary home and community-based care to individuals and families regardless of their ability to pay. The VNA serves over 5,000 individuals and families in Chittenden and Grand Isle Counties each year.
