Central Vermont Medical Center President & CEO Judy Tartaglia recently announced that Dr. Kevin D. J. Kerin is joining Dr. Teresa Fama in Central Vermont Rheumatology, located on the CVMC campus in Berlin.
“There is a growing need for rheumatology services in central Vermont. Dr. Fama, as terrific as she is, just cannot keep up with the demand,” noted Tartaglia. Dr. Kerin is a Dartmouth trained rheumatologist, Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. We are pleased to have two high caliber physicians offering rheumatology services in our community.”
Dr. Kerin graduated from Dartmouth College with a degree in English. He received his post-baccalaureate pre-medical certificate from Bryn Mawr College. He graduated from Dartmouth Medical School and completed his postdoctoral work at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center where he did an Internal Medicine Residency and a Rheumatology Fellowship. Dr. Kerin will continue as an assistant professor of Medicine at Dartmouth Medical School.
"This is an exciting time to be a rheumatologist. Important advances are being made in both diagnosis and therapy, resulting in improved outcomes for people with autoimmune and inflammatory conditions,” stated Dr. Kerin. “I am looking forward to joining the Rheumatology team at CVMC."
Most recently Dr. Kerin was a staff physician at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in White River, Vermont. Concurrently, for ten years, he was also director of the Dartmouth-Hitchcock summer camp for children with rheumatologic conditions. Dr. Kerin is currently a volunteer firefighter in Lyme, New Hampshire.
He and his wife, general internist and emergency room physician Dr. Marybeth Durkin, live in Lyme, New Hampshire with their three children Bill, a high school senior, Kate, a high school junior and sixth grader Brenna.
Dr Kerin enjoys skiing, hiking and bee keeping.
