Bristol’s Almost Home Market welcomes new ownership

The Addison County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce a change in ownership of Almost Home Market in Bristol. The new owners are Beth Marr and Gary Smith, residents of Vergennes and Bristol, respectively. Gary, a long-time Bristol resident, is an excellent chef, gardener and wine buyer. Beth is a southern transplant, now living in Vergennes, and brings 20+ years of wedding planning and conference sales experience influenced by her flair for southern hospitality. Both Beth and Gary have worked in the hospitality arena for more than 20 years and both are in love with great food. “We promise to bring a level of friendly service to the area that is unsurpassed. We want our customers to feel at home when they walk into our doors and to stop in often—even for just a coffee,” said Beth Marr.

The new owners believe that successful businesses are built one customer at a time and they promise to provide the freshest, most interesting local foods, fresh baked pastries, gifts for the home chef and hand selected wines and beer. Beth and Gary will be using local ingredients including items from their kitchen garden. They will also be adding many new items such as hand cut steaks, chicken, fish and artisanal cheeses and smoked/cured meats. According to Beth, “the mission of Almost Home Market is to offer the best that we can for the best price possible. And, even better, we are now open on Sunday!”

Prior to purchasing Almost Home Market, Beth worked at Basin Harbor Club as the wedding and events coordinator, and Gary worked at Sysco Food Service as a sales representative.

Almost Home Market has been in business for nine years. The previous owners, Linda Hanson and Beth Newman-Place are planning to spend their new-found time traveling and gardening, respectively. With the exception of the new menu additions, Beth and Gary plan to offer the same items and merchandise that has made Almost Home Market a popular spot over the years.
