Megan Carman, M.D. joins CVMC

Dr. Megan Carman recently joined the inpatient psychiatry staff at Central Vermont Medical Center.

Dr. Carman completed her graduate and undergraduate work in New Jersey, receiving her BS from Cook College – Rutgers University graduating with high honors. She then attended University of Medicine and Dentistry (UMDNJ) – Rutgers Medical School where she received her MD, with academic honors in a number of disciplines including general psychiatry and counsult-liason psychiatry. Her postgraduate residency program in general adult psychiatry was done at the Institute of Living, a Division of Hartford Hospital in Connecticut. Dr. Carman is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

She was on staff most recently at the Riverbend Community Health Center in Concord, New Hampshire where she had hospital privileges and full admitting privileges at Concord Hospital. Her experience at Riverbend included providing psychiatrist evaluation and medication monitoring to clients with developmental disabilities and psychiatric disorders.

“Every day is interesting,” explained Dr. Carman. "I enjoy hearing people's stories and like to focus on helping them learn how they can help themselves."

“We are delighted to have Dr. Carman join Dr. Peter Thomashow, Medical Director, and the rest of the staff in CVMC’s inpatient psychiatry wing,” said CVMC President and CEO Judy Tartaglia. “CVMC’s inpatient psychiatry unit serves some of the most vulnerable members of our community and is also a regional inpatient facility. Dr. Carman’s experience with Concord’s 15-bed psychiatric unit suits her well for this position, working with CVMC’s 15-bed unit.

Dr. Carman and her husband, Mark Meau, a mental health clinician, plan to live full time in their Littleton, New Hampshire lakeside home. Dr. Carman enjoys New England’s four season outdoor sports including snowboarding, mountain biking, kayaking and hiking.
