Mubiay named VEOP Achiever for 2011

Tuipate Mubiay of Colchester received the 2011 achiever award sponsored by Vermont Educational Opportunity Programs (VEOP), a coalition of providers of federally funded programs serving low-income and first-generation college-bound students.

The VEOP award is given to an individual who was served by one of the state’s educational opportunity programs, has achieved academic success, and has made significant contributions to his or her community or profession.

Mubiay received services from Vermont Student Assistance Corporation’s counseling program for adult learners and earned undergraduate and graduate degrees from Community College of Vermont, Johnson State College, and the University of Vermont. He works at CCV’s Winooski site as coordinator of academic services for English language learners.

He is very active in the community, serving on boards and assisting a variety of local groups and projects.
