New Directions Consulting, Inc., of Southern Vermont, partnered with the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Entrepreneur Boot Camp for a fourth class season this fall. The Entrepreneur Boot Camp is a 12 week course for budding entrepreneurs looking to gain critical skills necessary for starting a business in the Capital Region.
For the fall class of 2011, New Directions provided both a financial gift to the Boot Camp, as well as prize money and consulting hours to the second place winner in the competition. The Boot Camp classes blend classroom and individual training with presentations by prominent business experts and panels of business experts. The course includes a business plan competition in which students design a business plan that they can use to apply for loans. At the end of the 12 weeks, the participants put together the business plan and presentation, going before a panel of judges with a chance to win first, second or third place prizes. New Directions also teaches one of the classes during the Camp and sits on the panel for judging business plans.
New Directions was excited to present Rosette Rubins and her business Love Yourself Thin with New Directions’ From Small Beginnings gift for receiving second place in the business competition portion of the class.
