Governor Douglas elected Coolidge Foundation Trustee

On Saturday, July 30, 2011, the Calvin Coolidge Memorial Foundation elected new trustees to the Foundation’s Board, including former Governor James H. Douglas; author and historian Amity Shlaes, who is currently writing a biography of President Coolidge; Senior Fellow of the Atlantic Council, Sarwar Kashmeri of Reading, VT; fund raising expert Leslie Keefe of Manchester Center, VT; Vice President and General Manager of the Rutland Herald, Catherine Nelson; business owner Ann Shriver Sargent of Norwich, VT; and President of the National Notary Association, Milton Valera of Chatsworth, CA.

In addition, the Foundation elected a new slate of officers, including Frank J. Barrett, Jr., architect and noted author and historian of Fairlee, VT as Chairman of the Board of Trustees; Catherine Nelson and Barbara O’Connell, Vice Chairs; Owen Stearns, Secretary; and, Christopher Jeter, great grandson of President Coolidge, Treasurer. The Board also honored the immeasurable contributions to the Foundation of Woodstock’s own Mimi Baird and unanimously elected her Emerita Trustee.

The Calvin Coolidge Memorial Foundation has stewardship for President Coolidge legacy. The Foundation was established in 1960 by John Coolidge, the son of the President. The Foundation’s offices are located in Plymouth, Vermont, an historic hamlet in which Calvin Coolidge was born, raised and is now buried.
