Northwestern Medical Center is pleased to announce the addition of a new general surgeon to the hospital staff. Dr. Mary Woodhouse is now practicing at Northwestern Associates in Surgery, located in the Doctors’ Office Commons on the NMC campus.
Dr. Woodhouse is an experienced general surgeon specializing in breast surgery, laparoscopy, upper endoscopy, and colonoscopy, as well as a wide range of other procedures. Prior to relocating to Vermont, she practiced at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake, NY.
“When I came to visit in January, I was surprised at how much I liked the hospital and the people here,” said Dr. Woodhouse. “I had such a good feeling that I did not want to look anywhere else. I made a commitment to myself early on that no matter what field of medicine I followed, I would practice in a rural area, and NMC fit the bill.”
Dr. Woodhouse studied biochemistry at Northwestern University and upon graduation enrolled at the University of Wisconsin Medical School. She completed her residency at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, New York, earning the distinction of Chief Surgical Resident there.
