Channel 17/Town Meeting TV welcomes Dave Hartnett, Burlington's Ward 4 City Councilor, to the Channel 17 Trustees. Hartnett was appointed by Burlington City Council President, Bill Keogh to replace outgoing councilor and Channel 17 Trustee, Nancy Kaplan. Kaplan served for two years beginning in 2009 and helped oversee new contract negotiations with Comcast cable.
Dave Hartnett is a life long resident of Burlington currently living in the New North End with his wife Lisa and daughter Katie. Mr. Hartnett operates the Mobil Short Stop on North Avenue. Prior to being elected to the City Council, he served for three years on the Parks and Rec commission with his last year as chair. He spent many years working in youth athletics as a coach, referee and held the position of District One Little League Administrator for the past ten years. Dave Hartnett has been a member of the Northern Vermont Baseball Association for 28 years and enjoys college, high school and little league games.
The Channel 17 board looks forward to working with Dave Hartnett in a continued effort to keep local government accessible to all community members through new media tools and television.
The Channel 17 Trustees oversee the Chittenden County Government Access Channel Trust and are appointed by each of the member municipalities. The Trustees contract with CCTV to operate the channel on behalf of its members.
Channel 17/Town Meeting TV provides government access and public affairs programming to the Comcast cable subscribers of Colchester, South Burlington, Burlington, Essex Town, Essex Junction, Winooski, Williston and St. George as well as to the subscribers of Burlington Telecom cable. Channel 17’s mission is to make government more accessible and accountable to Chittenden County residents and to provide citizens with a direct link to public policy makers.
