Darn Tough Vermont welcomes Steve Hyde as Finishing Manager

Darn Tough Vermont, manufacturer of premium all-weather performance socks, welcomes Steve Hyde to its staff as a finishing manager at the company’s headquarters and mill in Northfield, Vermont. Hyde will help foster Darn Tough Vermont’s growth by managing the washing, boarding, inspecting and packaging departments. His oversight will ensure all departments meet production and shipping schedules, productivity standards and attain the highest quality standards possible.

“Hyde is a valuable addition to our staff here at the hosiery mill,” said Ric Cabot, owner and founder of Darn Tough Vermont. “His hire comes at a time when we are experiencing substantial growth. He brings years of management experience to our team and will be responsible for hiring and training new staff as the company continues to expand.”

Darn Tough Vermont recently announced plans for major infrastructure upgrades during the course of 2011. This includes nearly 50 percent more knitting machines, new computer software and adding eight to ten employees to its team of approximately 110 at the Northfield mill over the next 10 months. Hyde’s hire represents one of two management positions being added this year.

Previously, Hyde was a department leader at Hubardton Forge in Castleton, Vermont. He was responsible for managing the assembly business unit and developing new leadership personnel. He effectively created an empowered work team capable of adapting to changing product and market conditions by inculcating basic manufacturing principles of quality, safety and efficiency into the culture of the department.

“As Darn Tough Vermont grows, Hyde’s management experience is vital to helping us maintain our strict quality standards at the mill,” added Cabot. “It’s an exciting time for the company and our local community here in Northfield.”
