Vermont Chamber of Commerce President Betsy Bishop
has been appointed by Governor Douglas to the Vermont Economic
Development Authority (VEDA) board of directors.
"I'm looking forward to working with VEDA," said Bishop, "the funds they
lend help create business growth and development that is crucial for
Vermont's future."
Bishop has been President of the Vermont Chamber since July 2009. She
came to the Vermont Chamber after having been Commissioner of Economic
Development and Deputy Chief of Staff for the Governor. Bishop will
bring depth of knowledge about Vermont business and economic issues to
the lending table with a significant understanding of the manufacturing
and tourism sectors.
"We are excited to have Betsy joining the Board" commented Jo Bradley,
VEDA manager. "She has broad knowledge of the Vermont business
community and the needs of Vermont employers," Bradley added.
VEDA is an economic development finance lender for Vermont providing
over $1.7 billion in financing to Vermont entrepreneurs, manufacturers,
small businesses and agricultural enterprises in the past 36 years,
helping them grow their businesses, create jobs and enrich Vermont's
economy.
