The Vermont Natural Resources Council has hired Nina Otter of Montpelier to join the staff.
Nina will serve as Membership Coordinator, a new position at VNRC. Her primary responsibility will be managing VNRC’s database of members and activists and helping get the word out about VNRC’s work in its sustainable communities, forestry, energy and water programs. She will be working closely with VNRC’s development and outreach staff to increase VNRC’s membership and to connect more people – especially younger Vermonters – with VNRC’s work.
“VNRC is an inspiring team of staff, activists and members,” she said. “I am excited help spread the word about VNRC’s mission to protect Vermont’s natural resources and create an environmentally and economically vibrant future, and encourage them to join us in our efforts.”
Nina has a BA in Environmental Studies with a concentration in Environmental Education from Warren Wilson College in North Carolina. While at college she was a founding member of the North Carolina Youth Climate Coalition and has lobbied members of Congress on green job legislation.
She served as VNRC’s Legislative Intern during the 2009-2010 legislative year and became well-versed in several of VNRC’s areas of work, including energy, land use, and environmental permitting.
“We are extremely lucky to have Nina join our team,” said Elizabeth Courtney VNRC’s executive director. “Her experience and energy will be key as VNRC continues to build our membership.”
Nina is fluent in German and proficient in Spanish. She is an avid and accomplished cyclist and cross-country skier.
