Comcast names Mary McLaughlin regional senior vice president

Comcast, one of the nation’s leading providers of entertainment, information and communications products and services, today announced that Mary McLaughlin has been named Senior Vice President for the company’s Western New England Region. In this role, McLaughlin is the top executive responsible for operations, performance and customer service for the region, which encompasses 300 communities in Connecticut, Western Massachusetts, New York and Vermont.

“I am grateful for this opportunity and look forward to ensuring that Comcast continues to deliver our customers the most reliable and innovative products backed by a great service experience,” said McLaughlin.

“Mary’s energy and talents, combined with a strong commitment to our customers and a proven track record of launching advanced products and services, make her the ideal person to lead this region,” said Kevin Casey, President of Comcast’s NorthCentral Division.

McLaughlin, an attorney and 15-year veteran of the communications industry, most recently served as Area Vice President for Comcast’s Greater Boston South operating area. In this role, she was responsible for cable operations in the City of Boston as well as its western suburbs and Southeastern Massachusetts. McLaughlin’s organization included more than 1,300 employees supporting Comcast’s video, voice and high-speed Internet customers in 125 cities and towns.

McLaughlin began her career in the communications industry with Continental Cablevision in 1994, drawing on her prior experiences as a Massachusetts Assistant Attorney General specializing in consumer protection in a variety of legal and strategic policy roles. Following the acquisition of Continental Cablevision by AT&T Broadband in 2000, McLaughlin was named Vice President of Acquired Business Integration for AT&T Broadband in New England, overseeing the successful integration of acquired systems. In 2002, she took on responsibility for external affairs as Vice President of Public Affairs and Communications for AT&T Broadband’s New England Region. In 2003, McLaughlin joined Adelphia Communications as Regional Vice President of Law and Public Policy for Adelphia’s Northeast Region, with responsibility for legal, public policy and government relations strategy and quickly transitioned into an operational leadership role as Adelphia’s Area Vice President for Vermont, New Hampshire and Eastern New York. Following Comcast’s purchase of those systems in 2006, McLaughlin was named Area Vice President for Comcast’s New Hampshire system, where she oversaw the successful launch of the Comcast brand and products.

McLaughlin’s efforts extend beyond the workplace and into the community where she is a widely respected civic leader serving on the board of directors of the Massachusetts Business Roundtable, New Hampshire Business and Industry Association and the Urban League of Eastern Massachusetts. She is also a gubernatorial appointee to the Massachusetts Governor’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Taskforce, which is charged with increasing STEM career awareness with middle schoolers.

In 2009, McLaughlin received the “Industry Leader of the Year” award by the New England Chapter of Women in Cable & Telecommunications and was recognized as one of the “Most Powerful Women in Cable” by CableFax Magazine in 2008.

A native of Massachusetts, McLaughlin graduated from Bridgewater State College and Suffolk University Law School. Along with her husband and two children, she resides in Longmeadow, Massachusetts.
