Saint Michael’s names magna cum laude SMC grad, former AmeriCorps member as admission counselor

Carrie Pratt of Essex Junction has been named admission counselor at Saint Michael’s College, starting this week. Ms. Pratt is a 2009 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Saint Michael’s with a degree in English literature magna cum laude. She will represent the college to future students, their families, secondary school professionals and others. She will plan and implement a multi-state recruitment agenda and will assess applicants for enrollment at Saint Michael’s.

“I’m so pleased to be back at Saint Michael's College, a place that I consider home,” Ms. Pratt said. A former student worker in the admission office and former tour guide, Ms. Pratt said she “sort of grew up in the admission office, learned a lot about the college community, about what different professionals do on campus, and about higher education generally.”

Ms. Pratt worked last year as a service and activism initiatives coordinator at Middlebury College, through the AmeriCorps VISTA program. As such she won the Middlebury College Exceptional Student Organization Advisor Award. She was an editorial intern with EatingWell Media Group during her Saint Michael’s spring semester 2009, and a volunteer with Make-A-Wish of Vermont during her fall semester 2008.

Among her many Saint Michael's College honors are the Founder’s Society Crown and Sword Award (2009), Delta Epsilon Sigma, Dean’s List every semester, and Green Mountain Scholar. She has been a Saint Michael's College Blogger and Student Coordinator of the bloggers, a member of the judicial review board, a writing center coach, a LEAP Retreat support rector and secretariat member.

Ms. Pratt’s sister Emily Pratt is a member of the Saint Michael's College Class of 2012. They are the daughters of Tom and Susan Pratt of Essex Junction.
