Jan Demers named CVOEO Executive Director

The Champlain Valley Office of Economic Opportunity Board of Directors has announced that Jan Demers has been hired as CVOEO’s new Executive Director. Demers will assume leadership of the anti-poverty agency immediately.

“We are very excited to have Jan on Board as Executive Director”, said Kirby Dunn, CVOEO Board President. “She has the administrative and managerial experience we were looking for, as well as deep commitment to social justice and helping our most vulnerable populations.”

Demers has most recently spent four years as Executive Director of High Peaks Hospice and Palliative Care in northern New York State. Previously she was Director of Domestic Violence Intervention and Family Services at ComLinks, the Community Action Agency of Franklin County, New York.

“CVOEO’s mission is one worth putting every effort into. The people we serve, and those who serve them, deserve every the very best we can all give.” Demers said. “I have the added bonus of moving back to Vermont. What could be better!”

Demers is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of Vermont, and a former Executive Director of the Lamoille Valley Chamber of Commerce.

CVOEO is the Community Action Agency serving the Champlain Valley. The agency employs 150 people providing a wide range of services to low-income Vermonters including; Weatherization, Head Start, Crisis Fuel Assistance, Domestic Violence Services, Housing Resources, Micro-Business Development, Food Shelves, Community Action and much more.
