Jerome Kelley, retired former Deputy Commissioner of Agriculture, will be honored at the upcoming Vermont Specialty Food Association meeting June 10. The event will be held at the Summit Lodge in Killington. Kelley is often affectionately referred to as the “Father” of Vermont’s specialty food industry because of the passion he exhibited in his tenure at the Ag Agency during the 80’s and early 90’s. His office was like a museum of specialty food products he proudly displayed. And he was never shy of offering producers good, sensible advice on how to market their food. Roberta MacDonald, Senior Vice President of Marketing for Cabot Creamery, will be the featured dinner speaker at the VSFA event. The Vermont Specialty Food Association is a statewide organization representing over 100 food producers and 20 suppliers to the industry. It is one of the nation’s premier statewide associations for the specialty food trade, celebrating 25 years of service to the industry.
