Jay Gonyeau, Marketing and Sales Coordinator at Burlington Telecom, has joined the Champlain Senior Center Board of Directors, specifically the McClure Multi-Generational Center located in the North End of Burlington. Gonyeau will work in concert with other board members to uphold the mission of the Senior Center to support the independence and well-being of older adults, enhance their dignity and self respect and promote their participation in all aspects of community life.
The McClure Multigenerational Center brings together the Champlain Senior Center and the Burlington Children’s Space in a facility that allows the two programs to meet increasing needs for child care and senior services in a dramatically improved environment. By co-locating and sharing common areas, equipment and some programming, the two agencies have developed a groundbreaking opportunity to meet individual organizational needs for space while maximizing scarce resources. Even more impressive is that they are doing so in a manner that brings people of all ages together.
“I am very happy to be working with such a vibrant and dynamic group as this Board,” stated Gonyeau. “The Center offers some great opportunities for collaborative programs that make a difference in the well being of aging adults. We are currently working on the creation and hosting of an Appreciative Inquiry Summit. The Summit’s goal will be to raise awareness of the good works provided by the McClure Center and its staff. We want to draw focus to the well-being and needs of the seniors within our community, as well as increase the Center’s overall community support.”
Gonyeau is a long-time resident of Burlington, and serves as the Marketing and Sales Coordinator at Burlington Telecom.
