Dr. Arthur Hessler has been appointed Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs. Dr. Hessler has been serving as Dean of Burlington College since 2008. Dr. Hessler previously served as the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College at Bridgewater College. Prior to his position at Bridgewater, Dr. Hessler enjoyed a 25 year career at Saint Michael’s College, where he served as Professor of Biology and Associate Dean of the College. He holds a B.S. degree in Biology from the University of Wisconsin, a M.S. degree in Biology from Eastern Michigan University, and a Ph.D. in Zoology from the University of Vermont. He was awarded an Honorary D.Sci. degree at Bridgewater College in Virginia in 2007. He resides in South Burlington with his wife Kathy.
Christine Plunkett has been appointed Vice President for Administration and Finance. Ms. Plunkett has been the Director of Finance and Human Resources at the College since 2007. Prior to joining the college, Ms. Plunkett served as the Director of Finance at The Gailer School in Shelburne and Middlebury for ten years. She worked as an independent financial consultant in the Boston area and in Vermont after earning her M.B.A. degree. She holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration from the University of Vermont, and an M.B.A. Degree in Finance from Northeastern University. Ms. Plunkett resides in Middlebury with her partner John Watson and their son Peter.
Dr. Michael F. Luck has been appointed Vice President for Institutional Advancement. Since 2008, Dr. Luck has been an Executive Consultant at the Maple Leaf Management Group in Underhill which is a fund raising consulting firm. He also is a faculty member at Indiana University’s Center on Philanthropy and The Fund Raising School. Prior to forming his consulting business, he served as President of The Meridian Health Affiliated Foundations, Vice President for Philanthropy and Alumni Affairs for the 64 campuses of the State University of New York, and Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement at the University of Massachusetts and Senior Vice President for External Affairs at Wayne State University in Detroit. Dr. Luck holds a B.S. degree in History and Secondary Education from Johnson State College in Vermont, a M.A. degree in Anthropology and a Ph.D. degree in Higher Education Administration from Southern Illinois University. He resides in Underhill with his wife Barbara C. Wilson, Ed.D.
