With nearly 10 years experience in alumni relations, Angela Armour was called back to her alma mater, Saint Michael's College to be Director of Alumni and Parent Relations. Ms. Armour began March 16.
She was most recently director of alumni and development for the South Burlington School District, since October 2008. Before that she served Saint Michael's for five years as assistant director for alumni and parent relations, and before that for three years as SMC director of sports information. And she has two degrees from Saint Michael's-a bachelor's in journalism (1999) and a master of science in administration (2009). "It's like coming home for me," Ms. Armour said. "My time away from Saint Michael's gave me perspective on my love for this college." She added, "Alumni relations is where my strengths lie and where I can do the most good."
As director of alumni and parent relations, Ms. Armour will oversee all alumni outreach programs, on campus and through regional off-campus events. Such programs will be focused on strengthening relations between alumni and parents and Saint Michael's College.
"I've been marveling at the fact that I have this position at my alma mater," Ms. Armour said. "Through my previous eight years as a Saint Michael's employee, I have really come to understand what the sense of community is all about-it's very real here; you don't find it everywhere." She said the job is the perfect fit: "I have two degrees from Saint Michael's and life-long friends from this college-I wanted to continue what I started as the assistant director in developing programming and relationships."
