North American Technician Excellence (NATE) is an independent organization that certifies installation or service technicians with a knowledge-based test.
There is no single NATE test -- there are 21! The expertise knowledge areas are divided into tests for installation, service and senior technicians. Technicians must pass both a core and a specialty exam to earn NATE certification. The Core exam covers general knowledge, construction knowledge and HVAC/R specific knowledge in heat transfer/comfort, and electrical systems. Specialty exams cover the installation, service maintenance and or repair of HVAC/R systems.
The NATE test isn’t easy and not all technicians pass the first time. NATE certification verifies that the technicians who pass are the best in the trade when it comes to knowledge and experience installing or servicing a heating or cooling system. To become certified installation and/or service technicians, these technicians must pass both core and specialty parts of either an installation or service test with a score of 70 or better.
Located in Bradford, Vermont, Lebanon and Littleton, New Hampshire, ARC has provided HVAC, plumbing, and refrigeration sales and service to businesses and homeowners since 1947.
