The Executive Director of United Way of Chittenden County recently announced the appointment of Susan Pelkey Smith of Shelburne to the position of Director of Finance and Operations for the organization. Having most recently spent five years as a supervisor in the small business department at the Burlington-based CPA firm, Gallagher, Flynn and Company, Pelkey Smith comes to United Way with a strong background in financial management and accounting, both in the nonprofit and for-profit sectors. She spent twelve years as the Director of Finance at the Burlington YMCA and before that, was an audit and accounting manager for JMM and Associates.
According to Gretchen Morse, the Executive Director of United Way of Chittenden County, “Susan was the natural and perfect choice to fill the vacant position. She spent six years on our Board of Directors, and most recently retired as the Treasurer of the Board and chair of the Operations Committee. We are thrilled to have her leadership and expertise now as part of the leadership team.”
Roger Monette, the former Director of Finance and Operations left the organization in November to assume the position as Comptroller of Vermont Energy Efficiency Corporation.
