At the Champlain Housing Trust’s 25th Annual Meeting, three volunteers were recognized for their work on behalf of the organization’s efforts to provide secure and affordable housing, and members of the Trust elected six to serve on the Board of Directors.
L. Randolph Amis of Burlington, CHT’s outgoing Board President, was presented with the Tim McKenzie Award for his outstanding contributions to CHT’s mission. Randy served as Board President through significant challenges and achievement: the creation of a permanent endowment and fundraising campaign that he led; the merger of two long-standing housing nonprofits; and the selection of CHT as a United Nations World Habitat Award winner in 2008. The Tim McKenzie Award is CHT’s highest honor and past recipients include US Senator Bernie Sanders , the City of Burlington, and George E. Little, Jr.
CHT also recognized two Shelburne residents for their volunteer efforts. David McFeeters, a resident Board member was presented with the Carole Pack Volunteer of the Year Award for his creation of a volunteer outreach program. The Hilton A. Wick Volunteer Fundraising Award went to Rosalyn Graham, who has served on CHT’s endowment campaign and led the most successful Community Campaign in CHT’s 25 years this past year.
Members of the Housing Trust elected six to serve on the Board: Frank Lenti and Willie Pearson, both ofBurlington, Resident members; Albin D. Voegele, Town Manager of Colchester, public member; and John E. Davis of Burlington, Tim Gutchellof St. Albans, and Rosalyn Graham, general members.
The Board selected the following officers: Paul Bohne of Shelburne, President; Willie Pearson, Vice President; Tim Gutchell, Treasurer; and Noelle MacKay of Burlington, Secretary.
The Champlain Housing Trust’s Board consists of 15 members – one-third represent residents, one-third represent municipal interests, and one-third are general members. CHT owns or manages 1,500 rental apartments, stewards 470 owner-occupied homes and provides management assistance to 81 cooperative households. CHT also provides affordable loans and offers homebuyer education and foreclosure prevention counseling. CHT’s service area includes the communities of Franklin, Grand Isle and Chittenden Counties.
