Monika Ursiny was presented the 2009 CEMS Outstanding Staff Member Award during a 2009 UVM CEMS Holiday Celebration held Thursday, December 17, 2009 in the Fleming Museum by Bernard “Chip” Cole, Interim Dean of the College. Ursiny was recognized for her achievements in her role as Budget Manager for the College.
“Monika is a long-time CEMS employee who has been an invaluable resource to the College,” says Bernard ‘Chip” Cole, Interim Dean of the UVM College of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences.
The UVM/CEMS Outstanding Staff Member Award was instituted in 2006 via a recommendation to the Dean by the CEMS Staff Advisory Council. This award provides CEMS staff and faculty with an opportunity to recognize staff for contributions made to the College in furthering the CEMS mission in research, teaching and service. Criteria for this award include: positive attitude, exceeding job expectations, engaging in tasks beyond job description, special contributions to the College, public service, and being a valued representative for the College.
Nominations were submitted by CEMS staff and faculty and the winner was chosen by the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Assistant Dean, and Dean. In the nominations it was noted that "it is important to recognize long term staff employees who not only have valuable historical information but who also apply that information to forward thinking.” Ursiny received a $100 gift certificate to a restaurant of her choice and a $250 shopping certificate to the store of her choice.
“To be recognized by colleagues in this way is truly special,” says Monika Ursiny.
