Citizens Bank awarded its annual “Be Inspired Award” to Linda Barker, Manager of the Shelburne office, for her outstanding commitment and dedication to the community. As part of the award, the Citizens Bank Foundation will contribute $2,500 to Linda’s charity of choice.
“It is because of Linda’s inspiring dedication to the community and her tireless efforts to go above and beyond in both his professional and personal endeavors, that we proudly award her this honor,” said Cathleen A. Schmidt, president of Citizens Bank. “Linda embodies Citizens’ spirit of giving, contributing more than 130 hours of community service in 2008 to organizations across Rutland.”
Linda volunteers in many capacities for organizations including the Lund Family Center, Shelburne Farms and Dragon Heart Vermont.
The surprise award was presented to Linda at the Shelburne branch of Citizens Bank as part of the bank’s annual Colleague Appreciation Week. The bank honors the hard work and dedication of each of its colleagues during a week-long celebration when colleagues are recognized for the role they play in the company’s success with lunches, outings, parties, games and prizes.
“Each year, Citizens Bank honors a volunteer or a group of volunteers who perform exemplary service to the community with this Be Inspired Award and contribution to the nonprofit organization of the recipient’s choice,” said Schmidt.
The Be Inspired Award was created in April 2007 by Citizens Financial Group, Inc. to honor volunteers who perform exemplary service in the communities where Citizens does business. The awards are part of CFG’s Colleagues in Action program, which recognizes the importance of community volunteerism. Nominations for the award are made by co-workers or colleagues nominating themselves. Awards are given out in each state where Citizens has a presence.
Citizens Bank Foundation is a subsidiary of the Citizens Charitable Foundation, which is a charitable contributions vehicle of Citizens Financial Group, Inc., RBS Citizens, N.A. and Citizens Bank of Pennsylvania. The foundation’s support is focused on housing, community development and basic human needs.
