Peter Hofstetter, the Chief Executive Officer of Northwestern Medical since 1994, announced that he has accepted the CEO position at Holy Cross Hospital in Taos, New Mexico. With Hofstetter’s leadership, NMC has been able to expand its medical staff, modernize its facilities, reduce outmigration of care, and establish partnerships throughout the community. Hofstetter has also served in a leadership role with the Franklin County Industrial Development Corporation, the Franklin Grand Isle Community Partnership, NOTCH, the Vermont Association of Hospitals and Health Systems, and numerous other community organizations. In recognition of his service and leadership, Hofstetter was honored with the Community Impact Award from the Franklin Grand Isle United Way in 2006.
Hofstetter has also earned national acclaim for his work at NMC. He is an employee of QHR, which provides management services for about 200 hospitals nationwide, including NMC. In 2008, QHR honored Hofstetter as its CEO of the Year – choosing him as the first recipient of what will become an annual award. Hofstetter will continue to be a QHR employee in his move to New Mexico.
