Bennington Chamber of Commerce announces annual awards

The Bennington Area Chamber of Commerce held its Annual Dinner Meeting on January 23, 2009. The Chamber honored retiring Board Members, Gary H. Thomas and Stuart Hurd for their dedication and valuable service. Outgoing Board President, Sue Congdon, was also honored by the chamber. Special recognition presentations were made to the following:

Bob and Cora Howe received the President's Award for outstanding service to

the community.

Eunice Schleif (post humous) was awarded the D. Ed Moore Award as a Chamber Member who always exhibited the best qualities of Chamber service and community engagement. Her daughter Nadine accepted on her behalf.

Ed Woods of the Bennington Banner was awarded the Community Business Partner Award. His effort on behalf of local events and programs has been a huge benefit to the Chamber of Commerce and The Better Bennington Corporation received the Partnership Award for all the projects we do together for the community. Our organizations support each other and we enjoy the team approach to making a better community. The Hospitality Award went to Tracy Galle who does an amazing job at the Shaftsbury Country Store and is a frequent contributor to WBTN-AM 1370 local programs.

The new officers are Steve Love as President, First Vice President, Lindy Lynch, Second Vice President, Brenda Jones, Treasurer, Charlie Letourneau, and Immediate Past President, Sue Congdon. With Bennington Moosefest 2009 on the horizon it looks like another productive and exciting year for Bennington.
