The Board of Directors at Yestermorrow Design/Build School has announced Kate Stephenson as the School’s new Executive Director. Stephenson has a long history with Yestermorrow. She first came to the School in 2002 as a design/build intern and has held a variety of positions within the organization. She has served as an Associate Director and then Director of Operations. She has been serving as the School’s Interim Executive Director since October of 2008.
Yestermorrow Design/Build School embraces the principles of sustainability, craftsmanship, experiential learning, and place-based education that emphasize the development of individual design skills, self-confidence, personal creativity, and social responsibility. Stephenson is a co-founder of the Mad River Valley Localvore Project, a grassroots organization dedicated to celebrating and supporting local food in the Mad River Valley. She is the volunteer Residential Green Building Advocate for the state of Vermont, working closely with the Vermont Green Building Network and the newly formed Vermont Green Homes Alliance. She is a Senior Fellow of the Environmental Leadership Program and was a 2006 Schepp Foundation Scholar.
