Local engineering firm Stantec has added two transportation industry veterans to its South Burlington team. Both are former Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) employees with extensive experience with Vermont’s roads and highways.
Jim Harris is a transportation engineer with over 40 years of experience working for state transportation agencies. After spending the majority of his career with the New York State Department of Transportation, during the last 10 years he worked for VTrans, leading the $200-million Route 279 project in Bennington and the Morrisville Alternate Truck route near Stowe. Harris also served as the Vermont Governor’s representative to the Champlain Bridge Closure Emergency Committee, which established a temporary ferry service to transport people across the lake while the new bridge was constructed.
Similarly, Harry Petrovs, LS, spent the last 20 years lending his expertise in right of way planning and engineering to VTrans’ right of way unit. Before that, he worked for years as a surveyor and forestry expert for a number of local engineering firms.
Stantec’s South Burlington team has nearly 60 transportation, environmental, and infrastructure design professionals.
