The Lamoille Economic Development Corporation elects a new slate of officers for 2012. The new President is James Black who has been on the faculty at Johnson State College in the Business and Economics Department since 1987 and is presently chair of the deparment as well as a Professor Management. Black also serves as a founding board member of VermontEntrepreneur.org. He received his Ph.D in systems Science, M.S. in Mathematics and B.S. in psychology at Portland State University. He was previously on the faculty at the University of Connecticut. In addition to his academic areas of interest, entrepreneurship, economic development and leadership, his passions include teaching and motorcycles.
Elected as Vice President is David Silverman, President and CEO of Union Bank. In addition to his career at Union Bank, where he has been employed since 1986, Silverman currently serves as Treasurer of Copley Professional Services Group and previously held positions with the Stowe Area Association, Morristown/Morrisville Development Review board, Town of Hardwick Electric Department and was on the Board of Directors of Lamoille county Mental Health.
LEDC’s new Treasurer is John Kingston, COO and CFO of Butternut Mountain Farm, an industry leader in the processing, packaging and distribution of pure maple syrup and related products. Kingston is a CPA and prior to joining Butternut in 2007 he spent his career in public accounting and corporate banking. He moved to Vermont almost 20 years ago to work with KeyBank in their Corporate Banking Group. He is a 1982 graduate of the University of Connecticut. He and his wife, Diane, live in Jericho, VT and have two children, Zachary and Hanna.
